San Bernardino, CA – Court Commissioner Ronald J. Gilbert has raised the bail for the 26-year-old Coach Outlet robbery suspect to $75.000. Kenneth Allen Chastain remains in custody after his request to be released on his own recognizance was denied.
During the arraignment hearing — via video — Commissioner Gilbert entered a plea of not guilty to all counts and appointed the Public Defender to defend Chastain.
Chastain is a resident of Green Valley Lake and was arrestedat 3:20 p.m., Tuesday (August 12), at the Walmart in the 11000 block of South Mt. Vernon Avenue in Colton. The suspect was allegedly advertising Coach merchandise on Craigslist and Detective Long made contact and arranged to meet him at the Colton Walmart.
The original bail had been $25.000.
THE CASE
The Coach Outlet robbery occurred at about 2:40 a.m. on Thursday, August 7. Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Deputies report that Chastain and an unidentified female forced entry into the outlet store. While in the store, the two stole six purses, a men’s business bag and several wallets.
Surveillance video reportedly shows the female was wearing a stocking over her face, a black long-sleeve t-shirt, purple Dickie-type shorts, purple shoes, and brown glasses. The male subject was allegedly wearing a black baseball hat, gray flannel jacket, jeans, tan shoes and black gloves.
A Coach wallet and a red pillow case was located a short distance from the store, according to police reports. The video surveillance showed the male carrying the red pillow case under his arm when he entered the business.
The pillow case and wallet were recovered, booked as evidence and sent for DNA analysis.
To date, information on the female suspect has not been released.

A preliminary hearing in the case was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Friday, August 22, in Department S-12. A preliminary hearing was also set for Tuesday, August 26, at 8:30 a.m. (229)
