Lake Arrowhead, CA – A 41-year-old Azusa child molestation suspect — identified as Robert Santos Arviza — was arrested a a cabin in the 600 block of Wesley Drive in Lake Arrowhead about 5 p.m. Tuesday. Arviza, who is on probation under A.B. 109 guidelines, is being held without bail. His initial court appearance in West Covina Superior Court was not immediately available.
THE CASE
Arviza’s arrest is related to an alleged incident took place on Sunday, according to authorities, and involved lewd acts with a child under 14 years of age. The gender of the child was not released.
Officials declined to provide additional details about the case but indicated the suspect and the child were not strangers.
THE ARREST
Azusa Police report that Arviza provided a false address to his probation officer on a previous burglary conviction and had reportedly quit his job on Monday indicating to his employer he needed to leave the state.
Because the suspect was an AB 109 probationer, Azusa Police contacted the San Gabriel Valley East AB 109 Task Force to assist in locating Arviza.
The multi-agency Task Force determined the suspect may have fled to Lake Arrowhead and converged on the cabin where Arviza was arrested without incident. The arrest came within eight hours of the task force joining the manhunt.
Arviza was turned over to Azusa Police after his arrest. (254)
