San Bernardino, CA – The Arrowbear man who has entered a guilty plea of sexual penetration with a female child under 10 years of age — Carey Trevon Thomas — returns to San Bernardino County Superior Court on Thursday, January 9. for sentencing. The proceeding is scheduled for 8:30 a.m . in Department S-26.
Thomas, now 25, appeared before Judge William Jefferson Powell on December 2 and accepted a plea bargain. Two felony counts of sex with a child under 10 years of age will be dismissed At sentencing.
The man remains in custody at the West Valley Detention center and bail is $500,000.
THE CASE
Thomas — a former kindergarten classroom volunteer — was placed under arrest at 12:28 a.m. on Friday, September 28.
The Sheriff’s Department press release, following his arrest, reported Thomas was charged with the sexual assault after the Children’s Assessment Center at Loma Linda Children’s Hospital treated a six-month-old female for injuries to her genitalia consistent with child abuse.
The Arrowbear man was a volunteer in a kindergarten classroom at the Living Springs Christian School in Arrowbear. The school is no longer open and posted on its Facebook page on December 27 of last year that “school is now closed.”
