Lake Arrowhead, CA – Twin Peaks Sheriff’s deputies have arrested one of the suspects in the August 7 robbery of the Coach Outlet in Lake Arrowhead Village.
Captain Rick Ells identified the suspect as 26-year-old Kenneth Allen Chastain. He was arrested at 3:20 p.m., Tuesday (August 12) at the Walmart in the 11000 block of South Mt. Vernon Avenue in Colton.
Detective Long from the Twin Peaks Station had been in contact with Chastain throughout the day after Long responded to a Craigslist ad for the reported items, according to a media release.
A search of Chastain’s Green Valley Lake residence on Squirrel Lane yielded an antique handgun believed stolen about two weeks ago in Green Valley Lake.
THE INCIDENT
The robbery of the Coach Outlet occurred at about 2:40 a.m. on August 7. Deputies report that Chastain and an unidentified female forced entry into the outlet store. While in the store, the two stole six purses, a men’s business bag and several wallets.
Surveillance video reportedly shows the female was wearing a stocking over her face, a black long-sleeve t-shirt, purple Dickie-type shorts, purple shoes, and brown glasses. The male subject was allegedly wearing a black baseball hat, gray flannel jacket, jeans, tan shoes, and black gloves.
A Coach wallet and a red pillow case was located a short distance from the store, according to police reports. The video surveillance showed the male carrying the red pillow case under his arm when he entered the business.
The pillow case and wallet were recovered, booked as evidence, and sent for DNA analysis.
COURT APPEARANCES
Chastain, who was booked at the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino, is being held on $25,000 bail and a no bail warrant related to a June 4 arrest for being in possession of a controlled substance.
He is scheduled to appear on the Coach robbery at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 14. He is also scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. court appearance on August 18 related to the drug charges.
