Big Bear Sheriff Seeking Public Assistance to identify Stolen Property

Big Bear Lake, CA –  On November 19, at approximately 1:10 p.m., deputies from the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station conducted a traffic stop on a pickup truck hauling a trailer near the intersection of Big Bear Blvd. and Summit Blvd. The truck had no license plate and the trailer displayed an obstructed plate. The truck was occupied by the driver, identified as Dennis Lee, 43 year-old resident of Pasadena, and two passengers, identified as Ann Esparza, 37 year-old resident of Pasadena, and Jamie Ordonez, 53 year-old resident of Diamond Bar. A record check confirmed Ordonez to be on Post Release Community Supervision with no bail warrant out of Los Angeles County. Lee and Esparza are both convicted felons.

During a search of the vehicle and trailer, deputies located multiple firearms, along with tools and equipment that were believed to be stolen. A cutoff concrete saw, Prototek transmitter and other specialized equipment was included in the tools. Through investigation, deputies discovered these items were stolen from Lake Arrowhead Community Services District.

All three suspects were booked into the Big Bear jail on felony charges of being in possession of stolen property and convicted felons in possession of firearms. Arraignment hearings in this matter are scheduled for November 21st in San Bernardino County Superior Court.

Deputies are in the process of identifying owners of the additional tools and equipment that were recovered; including chain saws, reciprocating saws, a welder, generator, air compressor and more. The Big Bear Sheriff’s Station is seeking the public’s assistance to identify owners of the remaining stolen items. 16 Year-old Missing Alabama Teen Found in Rimforest

Rimforest, CA – On Wednesday, June 27, 2018, about 3:00 a.m., Detective Turner,  from the Guntersville, Alabama Police Department, contacted Sgt Mulligan at the Twin Peaks Station. Detective Turner explained he was investigating a 16-year-old missing female juvenile, Shelby Rae Freeman, a resident of Alabama. He had information that she may be in the mountain community of Twin Peaks and was requesting assistance from the Sheriff’s Department.

Detective Turner said the missing juvenile would be driving a black 2017 Toyota Corolla with Alabama license plates, and she would be with her 18 year-old boyfriend, Caleb Walker, also a resident of Alabama.

Deputies assigned to the Twin Peaks Station began an area search looking for the vehicle and the missing juvenile. At about 4:00 a.m., Deputy K. Gallacher located the vehicle on Highway 18 near the community of Rimforest. Freeman and Walker were found sleeping in the vehicle. Freeman was taken to the San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall awaiting her parent’s arrival from Alabama. Walker was arrested on a warrant from Alabama for interference with custody and was booked into the Central Detention Center awaiting extradition to Alabama.

Two Arrested in Lake Arrowhead Burglary

Lake Arrowhead, CA –  On April 5, 2019, Deputies from the Twin Peaks station responded to an in progress residential burglary in the community of Lake Arrowhead. The victim was watching live video surveillance footage of her residence and observed subjects forcibly enter her residence and take the victim’s personal property. Through investigative leads, deputies identified the subjects as Jaimee Locanas, 25 year old resident of Twin Peaks and Christopher Snider, a 36 year old resident of Crestline.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., deputies were contacted by Lake Arrowhead Village security regarding two subjects stealing from a local business. Through the investigation, it was discovered Locanas and Snider were stealing merchandise from miscellaneous businesses. After an extensive area check, deputies were able to recover the property from the residence and commercial burglaries.

After the interviews of Locanas and Snider were arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga for violation of PC 459 – Residential Burglary. Locanas and Snider are currently being held in lieu of $75,000 bond.

The case will be submitted to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s office for review.

Big Bear Sheriff Arrest 2 Females For Passing Counterfeit $100 Bills

Big Bear Lake, CA –  On Saturday, April 13, 2019, at approximately 2:43 pm, Big Bear Sheriff’s deputies received several reports of two females who made multiple purchases using counterfeit $100 bills at several businesses in the Big Bear area.

The two females were driving a black GMC Denali, California license plate 7FQG384. A victim reported seeing the vehicle in the Big Bear Lake Walgreen’s parking lot. Deputies located the vehicle occupied by two females. The females were identified as Amanda Gray, age 30, and Amanda Piercy, age 32, both residents of Riverside County. Gray and Piercy matched the suspects seen on video surveillance passing counterfeit $100 dollar bills. Both Gray and Piercy are suspected of entering multiple businesses in the Big Bear area, between April 11th and April 13th, making small item purchases, and paying with counterfeit $100 dollar bills.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies located thousands of dollars in counterfeit $100 dollar bills, several receipts which indicated Piercy and Gray had made several purchases using counterfeit $100 dollar bills. A handgun was also located behind the driver’s seat. A used methamphetamine pipe and a usable amount of suspected methamphetamine was located inside a purse belonging to Piercy. Deputies determined that Amanda Piercy was also convicted felon.

Investigators believe there are still several businesses in the Big Bear area who have been victimized and have yet to report the crime.

Crestline Man Arrested For Assault With A Deadly Weapon and Criminal Threats

Crestline, CA – On Thursday, May 2, 2019, at approximately 9:43 p.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Twin Peaks Station, responded to the 24100 block of Horst Dr., Crestline, for report of an assault with a deadly weapon.

Howard Frederick, a 33 year old resident of Crestline, got into a verbal argument with the victim, pointed a handgun at the victim’s head and told her he was going to kill her. The victim fled the residence to safety and was interviewed by deputies. Frederick barricaded himself inside the residence and refused to come out. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Specialized Enforcement Division was called to assist. After several hours, Frederick came out of the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

Frederick was arrested for PC 245(a)(2) Assault with a Deadly Weapon and was transported to the West Valley Detention Center for booking.

Deputies Arrest Bryan Scott Rick for Armed Robbery and Failure to Yield

Twin Peaks, CA – On Saturday, May 25, 2019 at approximately 9:00 p.m., deputies from the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station responded to the Mountain High Market, in the community of Twin Peaks, reference a armed robbery. The suspect — Bryan Scott Rick, a 28 year old resident of Crestline, CA — entered the market with a large hunting knife in his hand and demanded the employee open the cash register and give him the money inside. Rick fled the location with an unknown amount of cash and miscellaneous store property.

On Sunday, May 26, 2019 at about 1:00 p.m., deputies observed Rick driving a vehicle on Highway 138, in the community of Crestline. Deputies attempted a traffic stop but Rick failed to yield. In an apparent attempt to avoid apprehension, Rick drove recklessly into oncoming traffic and accelerated to a high rate of speed in dense fog. During a short pursuit, Rick lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a dirt embankment where he was arrested without further incident. During the investigation, deputies confirmed  the vehicle was recently stolen from the City of Riverside. While searching the vehicle, deputies located a large hunting knife on the passenger seat.

Rick was arrested for armed robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, evading with disregard for public safety, and felony driving a motor vehicle while under the influence.  Rick was transported to West Valley Detention Center, where he is being held on a $350,000 bail.

Team Work of Deputies & CHP Results in the Seizure of Black Tar Heroin & Meth.

Crestline, CA – Wednesday, June 26, 2019, deputies from the Twin Peaks Station were informed by California Highway Patrol Officers, (CHP) that a tan Toyota Tacoma was transporting drugs to the mountain area. After receiving the information from CHP, deputies located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop in the community of Crestline near Bowl Road and Shady Lane. During the traffic stop the passenger, Samantha Stockbridge, 21 year old resident of Twin Peaks, displayed signs and symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. During a consent search of Stockbridge’s belongings, Deputies located drug paraphernalia. The CHP was contacted and assisted in the investigation by providing a Drug Detection Dog to search for any additional drugs within the vehicle.

The Drug Detection Dog alerted on several portions of the vehicle and, during the search, deputies located a metal container in the vehicle. The contents of the container consisted of approximately 25 grams of Black Tar Heroin and 11.3 grams of methamphetamine. An additional bundle of methamphetamine was located separately from the container which was about one gram in  weight.

During a search of Jimmy Daniel Bailey, a 52 year old resident of Twin Peaks, deputies located a large quantity of cash on his person. Bailey was arrested for transportation and sales of a controlled substance and narcotics.

Stockbridge was issued a citation and released at the scene.

Through the combined efforts of the Sheriff’s Department and the CHP, the investigation was a success.

National Night Out Tuesday, August 7, 2018

Crestline, CA – Rim of the World Recreation and Park District, in conjunction with Cal Fire, San Bernardino County Fire, California Highway Patrol, and the Park District Staff are hosting a National Night Out.

Mountain residents are invited to come out to the Lake Gregory Education & Community Center, 24740 San Moritz Way, Crestline, CA., between the hours of 5:00 p.m and 7:00  p.m., Tuesday August 7, 2018.

This is a free, family-oriented event to raise awareness about crime prevention and personal/household safety. Police and fire equipment will be on display and there will be fun games and activities, chips and hot dogs will be served. Listen to the High Desert YARDBIRDS.

National Night Out is an annual campaign, organized through the National Association of Town Watch that promotes community partnerships and camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live.

Together we are making this happen. In recognition of Nation Night Out, resident throughout the mountain — and across the nation — are asked to lock their doors, turn on their porch lights, and spend the evening of August 7th outside with neighbors and law enforcement. Arrest for Embezzlement and Grand Theft From Rim of the World High School

Lake Arrowhead, CA – On Sunday, March 29, 2019, the investigations bureau at the Twin Peaks Station received a report of embezzlement from the Rim of the World High School. School administration alleged their music director, Kevin Alexis Enriquez, a 25 year old male from Twin Peaks, CA, misappropriated charitable funds meant for the school’s music program. During a month’s long investigation, detectives identified stolen school funds exceeding $4,000.00 had been deposited into Enriquez’s personal bank accounts.

A report was submitted to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office and an arrest warrant was issued. On July 4, 2019, Enriquez was arrested pending charges of PC 504,- Embezzlement  and PC 487 – Grand Theft.

Big Bear National Night Out August 6, 2019

Big Bear, CA –  The Big Bear Sheriff’s Station, in association with their Community Partners, CHP, Big Bear Fire Dept., U. S. Forest Service, San Bernardino County Fire and the Department of Fish & Game will hold National Night Out to Big Bear Valley residents on Tuesday, August 6th.  Come and join all at the Veterans Park in Big Bear Lake, between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. for an Open House. This is a free family oriented event to raise awareness about crime prevention and personal/household safety. Police and fire equipment will be on display, and there will be activities and giveaways for all who attend. They will be firing up the barbecue and have cold beverages, while supplies last. LifeStream will also be on hand for a Guns and Hoses blood drive and marrow screening.

Breanna Wood Arrested for Child Endangerment

Twin Peaks, CA – On August 1, 2019 at approximately 7:30 a.m. the Twin Peaks Sheriff station responded to Mountains Community Hospital emergency room after receiving a report of a child under the age of one, who was being medically treated for ingesting methamphetamine. Through investigation, detectives determined the victim was under the care and custody of her biological mother, Breanna Wood, a 22 year old female from Blue Jay, CA, at the time of the incident occurred. After Wood learned law enforcement was investigating the crime, she and the victims biological grandmother, Autumn Nelson, a 47 year old female from Blue Jay, CA, fled their home.

Wood was located in the community of Rim Forest and arrested. Wood was booked at Central Detention Center pending charges of PC 273(a)- Child Endangerment. An arrest warrant PC32- Accessory after the fact- was issued for Nelson.

The victim was treated and released to the custody of San Bernardino County Child and Family Services.

3 Arrested for Attempted Murder and Conspiracy

Crestline, CA – On October 20, 2018, at approximately 10:40 a.m., deputies responded to a report of shots heard around Straight Ave. and Owings Way in the community of Crestline. Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Twin Peaks Station, responded to the area and found a victim lying in the street with several gunshot wounds. Detectives from the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. During the investigation, several search warrants were served at several locations throughout Crestline and three people were taken into custody.

Angela Galindo, 38 year old resident of Crestline, David Arias, 33 year old resident of Crestline, and Gabriel Sauceda, 33 year old resident of Twin Peaks, were arrested for attempted murder and conspiracy, and were booked at the Central Detention Center.

Blue Jay McDonald’s Armed Robbery Suspect Still on the Loose.

Blue Jay, CA – On Sunday, September 30, 2018 at approximately 12:10 a.m. an armed robbery occurred at the McDonald’s, located at 27284 State Highway 189 in Blue Jay, CA. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Twin Peaks Station, responded and investigated the armed robbery. The suspect entered the business through an open back door and forced the night manager to open the safe at knife point.

The suspect was wearing a mask, dark ski goggles, black gloves, tan pants and a blue/green flannel shirt. The suspect was described as five feet eight to six-foot tall with a thin build and deep voice.

John Neibert Arrested for Domestic Violence and False Imprisonment

Lake Arrowhead, CA – On Wednesday, September 20, 2019 at about 5:54 a.m. deputies assigned to the Twin Peaks Station responded to Mountains Community Hospital in Lake Arrowhead. The victim stated she had been assaulted by her boyfriend of 2 years, John Neibert, a 43 year old resident of Lake Arrowhead.

Neibert was intoxicated and accused the victim of cheating because she did not send him a nude photo that he requested. The victim walked away from Neibert and he followed her into their bedroom where he demanded sex. He attempted to force himself upon her and she resisted and he ended up pushing the victim off the bed causing her head and face to hit the floor. She sustained injuries to her face and other parts of her body. She got up in a daze and attempted to leave their home, but Neibert took the victims keys and cellphone refusing to let her leave. At about 3:00 a.m. Neibert gave the victim her phone and keys and allowed her to leave. The victim warned deputies he made threatening statements to her and owned several  firearms.

Sargent Brandt located Neibert’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Neibert was detained and had a loaded .45  caliber pistol on the passenger seat next to him. He also had an assault rifle and Savage brand hunting rifle inside the vehicle. Neibert was arrested for domestic violence and weapons charges.

2 Suspects Arrested For Buglary Of A Rental Cabin in Big Bear City

Big Bear City, CA – Just before 11:00 p.m. on September 27th, deputies responded to a call for a security check at a rental cabin in 300 block of S. Cavern Drive in Big Bear City. The reporting party stated a moving truck was observed in the driveway on a security camera and that the camera was subsequently disabled. The reporting party was able to provide the description of a male suspect on camera before it was deactivated. As the deputies approached the  cabin, they located a man matching the subject’s description walking down the street. The male was later identified as Richard Galindo, a 37 year old male resident of Whittier. Galindo was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and was detained.

Deputies located the moving truck in the area and conducted a traffic stop. The driver falsely identified himself to deputies as Jeramy Vargas. A records check found “Vargas” to have a suspended driver’s license and the truck was towed. During an inventory search of the truck, deputies found multiple items stolen from the rental cabin, including tools and brand-new mountain bikes.

“Vargas” was later correctly identified as Derek Smits, a 40 year old resident of Whittier, who is a parolee at large with multiple warrants in Los Angeles County. Through the investigation, it was determined that Galindo and  Smits entered the cabin without permission and stole the items that were recovered.

Suspects Galindo and Smits were arrested without incident and booked into the Big Bear Jail on felony charges of burglary and being in  possession of  stolen property, Galindo remains in custody in lieu of $25,000 bail. Smits remains in custody without the possibility of bail, due to his active outstanding warrants. Arraignment hearings in this matter are set for October 1st in San Bernardino Superior Court.


Emilio De La Cruz Arrested for Possession/Transportation of Drugs

Ceder Glen, CA – On Saturday, October 12, 2019 at approximately 7:30 p.m., deputies from the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Multiple Enforcement Team (MET) initiated a traffic stop on a gray Ford pickup truck, in the 28900 block of Hook Creek Road, in the community of Cedar Glen for numerous traffic violations. The driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, was contacted and identified as Emilio De La Cruz, a 49 year old resident of Cedar Glen. De La Cruz was determined to be under the influence of a Central Nervous System Stimulant (methamphetamine) and was subsequently arrested.

During a search of the vehicle deputies seized over 210 grams of narcotics, which included suspected crystal methamphetamine suspected Cocaine and suspected Black Tar Heroin. In addition deputies recovered hundreds of dollars in US currency, an electronic scale, and a metal replica rifle, which had the appearance of a real firearm. The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) estimated the cost of the narcotics found in the vehicle, to be worth over $5,000.00 on the street.

De La Cruz was arrested for violation of Health and Safety Code Sections 11378, 11379)a), 11351, and 11352(a), which included both the possession and the transportation of controlled substances and narcotics for sale. De La Cruz was booked at Central Detention Center where he is being held on both a $400,000.00 bail and a no bail hold pending bail verification hearing.

Crestline Man Arrested For The Second Time In Two Weeks

Crestline, CA – Justin Brien, a 38 year old resident of Crestline, was arrested on Saturday, November 9, 20189 on narcotics and weapons charges.  Twin Peaks Sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant in the 700 block of Forest Shade Rd., Crestline. During the search warrant, deputies discovered plastic baggies, an electronic scale, US currency in different denominations, suspended methamphetamine, and other drug paraphernalia. In addition to the narcotics, deputies recovered a cane sword – which is a prohibited weapon in the State of California. They also located several pieces of suspected stolen electronics, and license plates from six states which belonged  to rental companies.

Deputies arrested Brien at the residence. Brien was out on bail, from an arrest two weeks prior. During that incident, Brien was arrested for possession of controlled substances for sales while armed with a loaded firearm which was stolen.

Brien was arrested for violation of Health and Safety Code Section 11378, possession of controlled substances for sale and violation of Penal Code Section 12022.1(b),commit a felony while on bail. Brien was booked at Central Detention Center where he is being held on a $150,000.00 bail.

Two Arrested for Attempted Murder, Armed Robbery and Elder Abuse

Crestline, CA – On Wednesday November 20, 2019 Davin Jameson, a 40 year old resident of Banning, and Amanda Rosa, a 30 year old resident of Banning, were arrest for attempted murder, armed robbery and elder abuse, to a 71 year old resident of Crestline.

The victim allowed Jameson and Rosa to stay at his residence in Crestline because they had no place to stay. An argument ensued when the victim observed them using illicit drugs at his home. Rosa attempted to calm the victim down by offering him marijuana, but the victim refused and told the suspects to leave. Jameson and Rosa violently attacked the victim using their hands/fists, a pair of handcuffs and a pool cue as weapons. During the altercation, the victim recalled Jameson taking the victim’s handgun and pointing it at him prior to losing consciousness.

When the victim regained consciousness, he realized the subjects had fled the scene and stolen his handgun, handcuffs and cell phone. The victim called law enforcement from an alternate phone and reported the incident.

Deputies located the suspects parked in a vehicle in Crestline. They were detained and found them in possession of the victim’s property, Jameson and Rosa were arrested and booked at the Central Detention Center, pending charges of PC 664/187 – Attempted Murder, PC 211 – Armed Robbery, and PC 368/ Elder Abuse.

Kaleb Aurelio, a 16 Year Old Teen From Twin Peaks Shot and Killed

Crestline, CA – Saturday , December 14, 2019, at approximately 8:15 a.m. deputies from the Twin Peaks Sheriff Station responded to the report of a man down in a driveway of a residence at 700 block of Dear Trail. San Bernardino County Fire personnel responded to the location and pronounced the male victim, later identified as Kaleb Aurelio, a 16 year old resident of Twin Peaks, deceased.

A Coroner Investigator responded to the location and found that Kaleb had a gunshot wound. Investigators from the Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail were requested and responded to the location to conduct the investigation.

Through investigation they identified a nearby resident, Joshua Camacho, a 36 year old resident of Crestline as a possible suspect responsible for the the death of Kaleb. Investigators obtained a search warrant for Camacho’s residence in the 700 Block of Big Oak Road, Crestline.

Deputies from the Specialized Enforcement Division (SED)  were requested and responded to assist in the investigation.

On Sunday, December 15th, a search warrant was served at Camacho’s residence, and evidence was located connecting him to the murder. Deputies from SED located Camacho at a residence in Orange County, he was transported to Sheriff’s Headquarters and interviewed by Homicide Investigators. At the conclusion of the interview Joshua Camacho was booked into the Central Detention Center for PC 187 Murder.

The motive remains under investigation. No additional information is available for release at this time.

Two Arrested in Lake Arrowhead Burglary

Lake Arrowhead, CA –  On April 5, 2019, Deputies from the Twin Peaks station responded to an in progress residential burglary in the community of Lake Arrowhead. The victim was watching live video surveillance footage of her residence and observed subjects forcibly enter her residence and take the victim’s personal property. Through investigative leads, deputies identified the subjects as Jaimee Locanas, 25 year old resident of Twin Peaks and Christopher Snider, a 36 year old resident of Crestline.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., deputies were contacted by Lake Arrowhead Village security regarding two subjects stealing from a local business. Through the investigation, it was discovered Locanas and Snider were stealing merchandise from miscellaneous businesses. After an extensive area check, deputies were able to recover the property from the residence and commercial burglaries.

After the interviews of Locanas and Snider were arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga for violation of PC 459 – Residential Burglary. Locanas and Snider are currently being held in lieu of $75,000 bond.

The case will be submitted to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s office for review.
