Running Springs, CA – Friday October 26, 2018 at approximately 10:00 p.m., Running Springs Fire Department was called to a residence in the 30000 block of Hunsacker Way in Running Springs. At the residence, fire personnel located Richard Nelson, a 33-year old resident of Running Springs, in medical distress and transported him to Mountains Community Hospital. Richard was airlifted from Mountains Community Hospital to Riverside Community Hospital, it was discovered Nelson had been stabbed, and he was rushed into surgery. Lifesaving measures were taken by hospital personnel but were unsuccessful, and Nelson was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department Specialized Investigations Division-Homicide Detail were contacted and took over the investigation. Through the investigation, it was determined Janine Lee, 34-year-old resident of Running Springs, Nelson’s girlfriend, stabbed and killed Nelson. Lee was arrested and booked into the Sheriff’s Central Detention Center. Janine Lee is set to be arraigned in San Bernardino Superior Court on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.
