Twin Peaks, CA – A 19-year-old man — who inadvertently discharged a 22-caliber handgun and shot himself in the right buttocks — is in custody suspected of attempted murder and making criminal threats.

THE INITIAL CONTACT
A media advisory indicates that about 11 a.m. on Friday, May 13, Tyrell flagged down a Twin Peaks patrol unit in front of the convenience store in Twin Peaks on Highway 189 (Five Points). He was found to be suffering from a gunshot to his buttocks area.
Tyrell told the deputy that he was shot but declined to disclose how the incident occurred.
The teenager was transported to an area hospital via ground ambulance.
