San Bernardino, CA – A Superior Court Judge has granted a continuance until October 14 for the new attorney representing Crestline murder suspect Steve Michael, Baumgartner, 53. Baumgartner is accused of the murder of Michael Paul Clark in Crestline on June 30.
Judge Annemarie Pace granted the continuance to Riverside criminal defense attorney Charles Kenyon who assumed Baumgartner’s case on August 26.
NEXT COURT APPEARANCE
The next court appearance will be on Tuesday, October 14, for a pre-preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. in Department S-17. A preliminary hearing was also set for October 16.
Baumgartner is being held on $1.75 million bail at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.

San Bernardino, CA – Crestline murder suspect Steve Michael Baumgartner, 53, returns to court Monday, September 8, for a disposition/reset hearing at 8:30 a.m. in Department S-17.
Baumgartner, who is being held on $1.75 million bail at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, is accused of fatally shooting 38-year-old Michael Paul Clark in the 23000 block of Wildwood Lane in Crestline on June 30.
During his most recent court appearance on August 26, Judge Annemarie Pace relieved the public defender after Baumgartner informed the court he had retained the services of Riverside criminal defense attorney Charles Kenyon, He is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Rosa Clark.
THE CASE
Baumgartner reportedly shot Clark — his next door neighbor in the 23000 block of Wildwood Lane in Crestline — in the face with a .357 Magnum after the two men got in an argument outside Clark’s home.
Dispatchers were told by numerous 9-1-1 callers about the incident that occurred about 5:14 p.m., June 30. First responders transported Clark to St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino where he was pronounced dead at 6:09 p.m. (134)
